Standing 4 " tall and 5 " in length, this small statue presents a wonderful means to praise and revere Anubis, the jackal-headed Egyptian god of the afterlife. Anubis is presented here stooped over an altar, upon which he is intent, finishing the last of the traditional burial wrappings needed before burial. Set with a multitude of rich details, including hieroglyphic writings along the edge of the altar and painted in traditional hues of gold, black, white, and red, this statue makes what could be a macabre scene a celebration of the god and his gentle care over those who have passed on into another life.
